Eurovision junior: 16th edition

The 16th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest relies on VYV’s state-of-the-art tracking system.

ALBION & PHOTON servers were combined to control over 1000 square meters of LED screens and 1000 moving head lights for one of Europe’s most popular broadcasted event.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest is known for its massive stage design, hundreds of lighting fixtures, and its “no downtime” policy since it is broadcast live to millions of viewers. The 2018 edition was held in Minsk.

Our trusted partners from the Minsk-based Blackout Studio were selected to design and operate the lighting and video for this mega-production. They are the first PHOTON and ALBION integrators to be active in Eastern Europe. So far, we have been amazed by how they have mastered our products and what they have accomplished with them.

More than 20 performers from different European countries had to perform according to a tight schedule dictated by the uncompromising rhythm of a live television event. Each artist gave his or her performance in a distinct visual environment that reacted to his or her position on the stage.

“The event’s stage design made it very important to track performers in order to provide them with the right backlight. 20 countries had various amounts of singers and dancers on stage and we had very little time to install emitters on costumes.”

ALBION’s first gig in Eastern Europe turned out to be a success thanks to our friends at Blackout Studio. Once again VYV’s tracking system proved easy to deploy and accommodate a tight event schedule. ALBION’s powerful tracking system guided over 1000 lighting fixtures during a live broadcast to shine some light over Europe.
